Star Indian batter Shubman Gill turned 26 years old on Monday, September 8. Gill will return in action as vice-captain of Team India in the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 which is scheduled to be played from September 9 to 28. The Men in Blue will begin their campaign with a match against United Arab Emirates (UAE) at Dubai International Cricket Stadium on September 9.

A day before the start of the tournament, India’s vice-captain Shubman Gill is celebrating his 26th birthday. On this special occasion, Gill got a special present from his teammate and one of the close friends Abhishek Sharma. Sharing a video on Instagram story, Abhishek can be seen offering a rose to Gill while wishing him on his birthday. He wrote “Mubarka janamdinn diya Gill sahab” on his Insta story.

Shubman Gill to play T20I for India after more than 1 year

Shubman Gill has been appointed as vice-captain of the Indian team for Asia Cup 2025. Gill had a memorable outing in his first Test series as captain in the Anderson - Tendulkar Trophy 2025. He amassed 754 runs in five matches as the series ended in 2-2. After the Test series, Gill also made his return in the T20I for the upcoming Asia Cup.

Gill has returned in the T20I setup for the Indian Cricket team after more than one year. He last played a T20I for India in a match against Sri Lanka in Pallekele on June 30, 2024. Now, he will be seen in action in the shortest format for India after more than 13 months and is likely to open the innings along with Abhishek Sharma.
