Cricket Australia (CA) on Tuesday, September 2 announced 14-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. It is to be noted that Australia cricket team is scheduled to tour their Trans-Tasman rivals for a three-match T20I series, set to be played from October 1 to 4. The announcement came just after Mitchell Starc communicated on his retirement from T20Is, to focus on Test and ODI cricket.

While the limited-over series will see Mitchell Marsh get back in to the leadership role, it has also seen a return of a few notable names, who have performed brilliantly lately in the shortest format. Among them is Mitchell Owen and Matthew Short - both of who missed the recent white-ball series. Pat Cummins, Australia's red-ball captain will also miss the series as he sustained a back injury.

Marcus Stoinis returns to T20I setup ahead of T20 World Cup 2026

Apart from these two, Marcus Stoinis is another prominent name who is set to make his return in the T20I setup for the Australia side, seeing the T20 World Cup scheduled to be held early in 2026 in India and Sri Lanka. With this, the Aussie all-rounder returns since late 2024 after missing the West Indies and South Africa series.

Xavier Bartlett also marks his return to T20Is with Cameron Green prioritsing Test cricket by playing the early rounds of Sheffield Shield for Western Australia.
