Star Indian cricketer and a veteran batter, Hanuma Vihari, who recently led his team - the Capital Amaravathi Royals in the fourth edition of the Andhra Premier League (APL) 2025, has decided to make a move from the Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) ahead of the upcoming domestic cricket season. The Indian batter has reportedly asked the ACA for a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to leave the state where he has played for many years.

Hanuma Vihari, who has registered 9585 runs in his First-Class cricketing career so far, as expressed his desire to switch to a new team, while he has communicated of his decision to the ACA and has also seek NOC. While his move has been long in talks, it is finally speculated to come to close ahead of the upcoming season, which starts later this month with the Duleep Trophy 2025.

Hanuma Vihari likely to move to Tripura ahead of 2025-26 domestic season

Speaking to Cricbuzz, Hanuma Vihari on Monday, August 25 said, "I have been thinking about a switch.” The 31-year-old further confirmed that there have been talks with the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) for long now, adding, “Tripura has been asking me for some time."

Former President of TCA, Tapan Lodh, who currently serves as a member, clarified that Hanuma Vihari is among the few individuals who have been in the radar. “We have recommended to the association a few names to sign as professionals. I cannot disclose the names but I know we are signing Vihari,” he said, as quoted by Cricbuzz.

Vihari, who played 16 Tests for India between 2018 and 2022, has featured in as many as 84 domestic cricket matches. Out of these, he has represented Andhra in almost 44 matches, where he has amassed 3013 runs at an average of 44.97 with four centuries and 20 half centuries.
