The stage is once again set for the highly-anticipated India versus Pakistan clash in the Men’s Asia Cup 2025, underway in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The two teams will once again lock horns after India handed a seven-wicket defeat to their arch-rivals in the group stage fixture, held last Sunday on September 14 in Dubai. While the Men in Blue will look to continue to remain unbeaten, the Men in Green will look to avenge their last defeat when they take on each other on September 21 in Dubai.
But ahead of the crucial game, there has been a lot of controversies, remarks involving the two side. Amidst this, former India opener and captain Krishnamachari Srikkanth launched a scathing attack on the Pakistan cricket team, calling them “seventh-division team of Chennai league”. The former India cricketer took to his YouTube channel to share his views on the upcoming game.
Pakistan shouldn't be playing with the main teams: Kris Srikkanth
The 65-year-old opined that Pakistan do not pose any threat to the Indian team, while adding that they should be considered as the Associate nations and not play with the main teams. "Going forward, Pakistan shouldn't be playing with the main teams. Have them among the Associate nations and bring a few of the others there here. It's a big thing for Pakistan that they are even allowed to play in such a prestigious tournament," said Srikkanth.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth further continued, "Pakistan should be removed from the top seven. From hereon, India-Pakistan matches won't attract crowds. India-Pakistan rivalry has become history. This Pakistan team will give us no scare. This is a seventh division team in a Chennai league.”
It is to be noted that Pakistan were handed a seven-wicket defeat in the Group A fixture against India, which was overshadowed with the handshake controversy. The defeat was their tenth in the 14 T20I matches played between the two nations. So far, Pakistan has returned victorious only on three occasions, with one match ending in a draw.
