Barbados Royals would not want to remember the result of their CPL 2025 match against Guyana Amazon Warriors as it ended in a four-wicket defeat. However, they would etch a pre-match moment as one of the most memorable ones for them this season. It is also said that the moment also highlighted the Royals’ efforts to keep spirits high despite a challenging season. With no wins in their first five matches, the team has faced an uphill battle in Caribbean Premier League 2025. Their latest loss to Guyana Amazon Warriors saw them post a respectable 165/6, thanks to Rovmann Powell’s unbeaten 50 off 28 balls, Rassie van der Dussen’s 45, and Brandon King’s 39. Yet, Guyana’s disciplined bowling, led by Gudakesh Motie’s 2/16 and Shai Hope’s match-winning 62*, proved too strong.

In a pre-match ceremony before their clash against Guyana Amazon Warriors, Barbados Royals honored former WWE World Heavyweight Champion and two-time Olympian Mark Henry with a personalised team jersey inscribed with “World’s Strongest Man”, a tribute to his moniker at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. The gesture, captured in a viral video and shared by the team’s official handle, showed that the Royals, led by captain Rovman Powell, welcomed Mark Henry to their camp.

“The World’s Strongest Man just became a Royal!”, the Barbados Royals posted on social media. As the Barbados Royals’ players gathered around, Powell, alongside head coach Trevor Penney, presented Henry with a pink-and-blue team jersey, emblazoned with “World’s Strongest Man” and the number “01” on the back.

Mark Henry earned the title of “World’s Strongest Man” after winning the Arnold Strongman Classic in 2002

Mark Henry is known for his feats in powerlifting, Olympic weightlifting, and professional wrestling, he earned the title “World’s Strongest Man” after winning the inaugural Arnold Strongman Classic in 2002. His career spans decades, from competing in the 1992 and 1996 Olympics to dominating the WWE ring as a World Heavyweight Champion. Henry, who has never been deeply immersed in cricket, reportedly shared a candid moment with Powell, admitting he’d caught glimpses of the sport on TV while traveling in the UK and India.

Barbados Royals so far have played five matches and couldn’t secure a win in any of the CPL 2025 games. With just one point, it appears a tough road ahead for them. Rovmann Powell is the top scorer in the tournament for them with 153 runs in five matches, Powell is ranked 14th in the most runs tally. In the bowling department, Ramon Simmonds is their top wicket taker in the tournament, Simmons ranking 12th has so far taken six wickets in five matches.
