In the ongoing high stakes clash between India and Pakistan in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, Jemimah Rodrigues luckily survived off a no-ball early in her innings at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The 25-year-old from India was on two off five when Pakistan pacer Diana Baig bowled a brilliant cutter, which gripped the surface and took the inside edge of her bat in the 27th over of the innings.
It led to Sidra Nawaz, the Pakistan wicket-keeper, grabbing hold of the ball smartly to her left, which led to the on-field umpire giving Jemimah Rodrigues her marching orders after asking the follow umpire about the clean catch. Moments later, the siren went off inside the R Premadasa Stadium courtesy of the third umpire, which meant that the on-field umpire had to call it a no-ball, giving the right-handed batter the chance to continue her innings.
