Travis Head and Mitchell Starc have appreciated legend Virat Kohli ahead of the white-ball series between Australia and Team India. Virat and Starc have played together for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL but in international cricket, both are rivals. In the upcoming three-match ODI series to be played from October 19, Starc and Kohli will be against each other again and the competition between the two is expected to be mouth-watering for ardent cricket fans. This year, Kohli retired from Test cricket which left him active in ODIs only while Starc bid adieu to T20Is to focus on the longer former formats of the game.
Recently Starc spoke to Star Sports and praised Virat Kohli’s competitiveness while playing against Australia. “I’ve played a lot against Australia. Always fantastic to play against Virat and have some of those contests. He’s played for a long time. He’s been so successful for a long time. He’s sort of held that middle-order together for a long time so his record speaks for himself. But he’s someone that our bowling attack wants to come up against and do well against. He’s likewise someone who loves playing against Australia and scoring runs against Australia,” said Starc.

Travis Head also showered praise on Virat Kohli
Travis Head has also commended Kohli for his aggression while playing against Australia. “I get triggered by, annoyed the most? I think a lot of people will say Virat because of how good he is. He’s always getting runs, just his high energy. He’s always into you. Like to say nice and relaxed as well so when you have someone chirping in the slips or coming past all the time, it’s good fun but hopefully I am batting long enough in the innings to get annoyed by now, yeah it’s always a good battle,” remarked Head.
Virat has played 50 ODIs against Australia in which he accumulated 2451 runs with eight hundreds and 15 fifties. This year, when India beat Australia by four wickets in the Champions Trophy 2025 semi-final in Dubai, Kohli played the match-winning knock 84 off 98. The India veteran also became the recipient of the player of the match (POTM) award.
