While India began their World Cup campaign on a defiant and important note by winning the much needed contest against their American counterparts, with captain Suryakumar Yadav leading the side brilliantly by an example, an important member of the team failed to come to the party. That was Abhishek Sharma; the famous left hander known for big shots and dangerous hitting departed for a first ball duck. Further trouble hit the team when he had to leave the squad for an urgent operatic procedure.

Abhishek Sharma’s injury, of lately, therefore, has been a cause of concern for the Indian Cricket team. And that’s not only because it’s a key player gone missing from the team when most needed as it’s the World Cup, but also because Abhishek has been in destructive form with the bat.

The left hander from Punjab trained under Yuvraj Singh scored a 35-ball-80 in the first game of the recently completed T20I series against the BlackCaps and would end up scoring 182 runs in the 5 contests he played that included 2 useful fifties.

But having said that, world bowlers must now embrace the fact that Abhishek Sharma is recovering well and his health status was brought to media’s attention by none other than another compelling left hander, Tilak Varma.

Tilak Varma updated the media recently ahead of the New Delhi clash against Namibia sharing that “Abhishek has been discharged from the hospital and is recovering well. He’ll be expected to join the squad for the future games ahead in the World Cup.”
