The Kolkata Knight Riders have bowled brilliantly to restrict the Delhi Capitals to a modest total of 143 but they have lost the wicket of the skipper Ajinkya Rahane in an unfortunate runout. These kinds of targets would have perfectly suited the playstyle of Ajinkya Rahane but he is back in the hut. Mitchell Starc was bowling with the new ball and both the openers were finding the boundary with ease. When he was bowling to Finn Allen, he smashed the ball back down the ground but it took a touch of Starc’s hand and it went on to hit the stumps. It is not a rare occurrence in cricket but there is very little the batter can do to prevent it from happening.

Ajinkya Rahane and Finn Allen got a couple of cracking boundaries to get their innings up and running and with the kind of total on board, they have got off to a decent start. The wicket of Angkrish Raghuvanshi would have hurted them a bit more as he is the leading run-scorer for the side in this edition of the IPL. Despite the quick fall of wickets, KKR will not be under immense pressure as they have enough time to adapt to the conditions and play their shots.

Delhi Capitals’ fragile middle-order failed again as KKR given comfortable target to chase

The Delhi Capitals were undoubtedly disappointing with the bat as they couldn’t get any partnership to last long enough to give the hosts an upper hand. The bowlers prevailed in the battle and the Capitals were once again in a spot of bother, having to bat first. The kind of dependency the Delhi batting unit has on their top 3 was well shown once again today. Their middle order is as fragile as it can get as they need a kind of batter to hold the innings when wickets are failing. There will be plenty of food for thought for the Delhi Capitals as they try to find their way back into the playoffs race.

The chances of the Kolkata Knight Riders aren’t that high but with the kind of form they have been in, they could do exactly what RCB did in the 2024 season. This game will be a comfortable chase for the visitors and it will require a miracle for the Delhi Capitals to win from here. With Cameron Green and Finn Allen still at the crease, there is very little that could go wrong for KKR. They have almost equalled the runs and the number of balls left, and they still do have somebody like a Rinku Singh to finish the job and seal the victory for the side.
