Delhi's co-owner Parth Jindal revealed the captaincy decision with a special customised jersey. He presented her with a special jersey in a surprise meet, with a Captain’s (c) etched next to her name on the jersey.

“We are gonna win this year. That’s the change I want to bring. Credit to Meg, too, for the way she has led the team over the last three years and the culture she has set for the team. She has inspired me and I have to owe that credit to her,” Jemimah said

Rodrigues was the first among Delhi’s 5 retentions ahead of the WPL 2026 Auction. When Meg Lanning was released it was sure that Jemimah would take over. She was retained for ₹2.2 crore, alongside Annabel Sutherland, Marizanne Kapp, Shafali Verma and Niki Prasad. The WPL 2026 season will be her first as captain in the league and Delhi will be hoping they can go all the way this season.
