Spin to Win – The mantra for Chennai Super Kings ever since the start of the IPL has been spin to win it. Especially at their home ground in Chepauk. It was a successful ploy as they had some of the best spinners and very good batters of spin. So they were very strong at home conditions and the opposition struggled to adapt much. This was their blueprint for success at home. It worked well until the 2024 edition onwards where the surface offered lesser turn and pacers were more effective

2025 shift in pitches – During the 2025 edition, the Cheapuk venue offered very less spin assistance and it was a high scoring venue. The results did not go well and CSK coach Stephen Fleming also made a point that there was no home advantage anymore citing that the pitches have changed and it is not what they wanted.

Ahead of the 2025 edition, Chennai Super Kings built their squad based on the spinning conditions at home. They put together a strong spin attack and had a team based on those conditions. But what happened was the surface was completely different and offered very less assistance for the spinners. The scores were very high throughout the season and CSK felt away from home despite it being their home.
