The Australians men’s cricket team haven’t really played a great deal ever since the completion of the 2026 edition of the Indian Premier League as seen earlier this year. But in what lies ahead as far as the imminent future is concerned, the Australian men’s cricket side are going to host Bangladesh for a 2-Test match series back home in Australia. The series is all set to take place in the month of August and will continue what could be called a fresh looking rivalry with the two teams having also clashed with each other on a number of occasions as far as the last 12-18 months are concerned.

Beginning with the opening Test that’ll be played at Marrara Stadium from the 13th to 17th of August, Australia will play the other and final Test at the Great Barrier Reef Arena at Mackay from the 22nd to the 26th of August next month.

Now, having said that the veteran trio of Nathan Lyon, Australia’s most successful off spinner ever and a legend in his own right, has been called back along with Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, all of whom have been listed in the opening Test squad to face Bangladesh.

As far as the rest of the squad build up to contest Bangladesh is concerned, it’s important to reflect on what the Australian Cricket Board’s website had to say in its formal announcement:

Selectors now face an agonising call over which of Hazlewood, Lyon or Scott Boland to leave out for the NRMA Insurance series opener at Marrara Stadium.

It is a pleasant nuisance compared to the sequence of injuries they were dealt with for the England campaign. Boland has typically been the fall guy when the 'big three' of Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood have all been available. That pecking order was reinforced when the Victorian missed selection for last year's World Test Championship final and first two Tests of the Caribbean tour.

Now that said, the Australian cricket’s chief selector and noted former international cricketer George Bailey has lauded the efforts of the returning trio of Hazlewood, Lyon and Pat Cummins and shared that each of the players have been putting in the work needed to excel in the highest format of the sport. It ought to be noted that each of the three are marking a return from injuries and shall be hoping to forge a formidable summer in what is expected to be a really busy Australian summer season as far as the cricketing duties stand!
