Chennai Super Kings locked horns with Lucknow Supergiants in match 53 of IPL 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and elected to field first as LSG went overboard with a fiery start in the powerplay with Josh Inglis’ 86 off 33. LSG scored their highest powerplay runs of the season - 91/1. But things turned in favour of CSK in the 10th over as Jamie Overton took twin wickets of the dangerous Inglis and LSG skipper Rishabh Pant. Although LSG reached past 200 for their fiery start and also a good finish, as Himmat Singh (17 off 12 ) and Shahbaz Ahmad ( 43 off 25) stood up with a 50-plus partnership.

Mitchell Marsh, the Australian all rounder although got dismissed for 10 runs today by Anshul Khamboj, but he completed his 1000 IPL runs for the franchise LSG. He has joined the list of the fewest innings to 1000 IPL runs for a team as the fourth least batsman to do so. Mitchell Marsh is a key top-order batter and all-rounder for the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2026, retained for ₹3.40 Crore following a record-breaking 2025 season. In 2026, he was a standout performer for LSG, scoring over 370 runs in 11 matches, including a 49-ball century (111 off 56) against RCB. He is now LSG’s top scorer.
