CSK starboy Dewald Brevis has been putting together a remarkable run in the Namibia T20I Tri-Series, producing back-to-back 75-run performances for South Africa. On Friday, Brevis scored 75 from 50 balls against Namibia, but his effort could not prevent South Africa from suffering an 18-run defeat. He held the innings together during the chase and remained South Africa’s standout batter despite the team finishing on 145/9. 

Just a day later, Brevis turned the same score into a match-winning performance against Zimbabwe. He smashed an unbeaten 75 from only 32 balls, striking seven fours and six sixes at a stunning strike rate of 234.37. His explosive innings helped South Africa chase Zimbabwe’s 144/8 in only 13.4 overs. Brevis finished the match unbeaten as the Proteas reached 146/3 with 38 balls remaining, securing a seven-wicket victory. His two consecutive 75s underline his consistency while also showing how dramatically his impact can change. The first knock came in a losing cause, while the second powered South Africa to a dominant win. With the tournament now back on track for the Proteas, Brevis has emerged as one of the series’ biggest talking points. 

Dewald Brevis’ 75 powers South Africa to dominant seven-wicket win over Zimbabwe in second Tri-series match

On Saturday 29 August 2026 in the second Tri-series match of the tournament between Namibia, Zimbabwe and South-Africa, Zimbabwe posted 144/8 in 20 against South Africa. They lost early momentum as South Africa bowlers choked the flow of runs, especially in the middle overs. There was a decent contribution from a few batters, but the visitors failed to post a competitive total against the Proteas’ potent batting lineup. South Africa came into the game chasing their first win after tasting defeat in their opening tie against the hosts. Marco Jansen’s twin, Duan Jansen was the key bowler as he took 3 wickets for an economy of 11.2. 

They stormed right out of the blocks and took control from Zimbabwe right at the start. The Proteas were all over the chase and made it clear that it would be anything but an easy affair for the batters from Zimbabwe as their openers failed to gain any ground early on. Dewald Brevis then went on to script the game as he hit an unbeaten 75 off 32 deliveries to help South Africa register their first win of the tri-series.

The left-handed batter hit seven fours and six sixes in his rapid innings as he registered a phenomenal strike rate of 234.37. Brevis was relentless in his assault on the Zimbabwean bowling attack as South Africa didn’t face any pressure at any point during the innings. The Proteas reached 146/3 in 13.4 overs while chasing down the total. Blessing Muzarabani, Newman Nyamhuri and Brad Evans provided some support by taking 1 wicket each but couldn't generate any favourable result.
