In a viral moment doing rounds on the internet, the RCB skipper, Rajat Patidar, was seen scolding the umpires for taking drinks brought by Head Coach Dinesh Kartik. The incident occurred at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium during a drinks break after the 14th over of Royal Challengers Bengaluru innings during their clash against the Chennai Super Kings.
In a viral incident, Dinesh Karthik, serving as a mentor as well as the batting coach, and head coach Andy Flower brought drinks onto the field for Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal. However, before Patidar could take his bottle, one of the on-field umpires picked it up and took a sip from it. Dinesh Karthik was seen fuming and "scolding" the official while exchanging heated words about the mix-up. The umpire quickly returned the bottle but hilariously tried to shift the blame by pointing toward another person who had supposedly handed it to him.
While users saw it as a "bottle theft," some reports suggested the confrontation also involved a misunderstanding regarding a strategic timeout the umpire had mistakenly signalled. Despite the mid-innings chaos, RCB posted a commanding 250/3 and went on to win the match by 43 runs.

RCB secure dominant victory over Super Kings
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) secured a dominant 43-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 5, 2026, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Powered by a record-breaking batting performance, RCB posted 250/3, the highest-ever total against CSK in IPL history. In response, CSK struggled early and was eventually bowled out for 207 in 19.4 overs.
Tim David was named the Player of the Match for a breathtaking 70 off 25 balls* (8 sixes), including dismantling Jamie Overton for 30 runs in the 19th over. Along with him, Devdutt Padikkal scored a quickfire 50 (29) to set a strong middle-order foundation. The skipper, Rajat Patidar, also chimed in and scored an unbeaten 48 (19)*, sharing an explosive 99-run stand with David.
CSK's chase was derailed early, reeling at 30/3 after losing Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sanju Samson, and Ayush Mhatre. Sarfaraz Khan fought back and launched a solo counterattack with a 24-ball 50, briefly giving CSK hope. While the lower-order batters Prashant Veer (43) and Jamie Overton (37) added late runs, the mammoth target remained out of reach.
