England scripted history after defeating India in the fourth match of the T20I series. The win gave England their first-ever bilateral T20I series win over India in a contest featuring at least two matches. It also marked their first bilateral series win over India in any format since 2019. India were completely outplayed as England sealed the series 3-0 with one match still to play.
In the fourth T20I, the visitors opted to bat first, but their struggles with the bat continued. India could only post 158/7 at the end of their innings. Apart from Shreyas Iyer, no other batter could get going, making it another disappointing batting performance from the visitors.

Chasing the target, England lost the wicket of Jos Buttler early but recovered well to chase down the total comfortably. The series defeat brings an end to India's dominance over England across formats, a run that had lasted since 2019. Several unwanted records were created during the series, including India's biggest ever defeat in the third match. England have finally ended India's long-standing dominance and rewritten the record books with a memorable series triumph.

Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy woes continue despite shining with bat
Indian captain Shreyas Iyer is yet to win his first match as captain. This is his second consecutive series loss after taking over the captaincy. India, who are the defending champions, have now lost five of their previous six T20I matches, with one ending in a no result. They have been outplayed in each of those games. Shreyas Iyer took over the captaincy from Suryakumar Yadav after the 2026 World Cup, and it has been a very tough transition.
Despite his captaincy woes, Shreyas Iyer has been the best batter for India in this series. He led from the front in the fourth T20I scoring 80* (49) with 4 fours and 5 sixes. He has broken a few records with his knock today.
- Highest T20I score (80)
- highest individual score by an Indian Captain in England in T20Is
- Only Indian Captain to score 2 half centuries in England, no one has even one.
Shreyas Iyer 2026 T20I Series vs England:
- 68(47)
- 37(22)
- 5(4)
- 80*(49)
Shreyas Iyer, as captain, has lost ten of his previous 12 matches. He will be under scrutiny and tremendous pressure. India still have a match left in this T20I series, and Shreyas will be keen to register his first win as India's captain. Overall, the series has belonged to England, and they have ended India's dominance.
