One of India’s most potent and in form weapons heading into- and progressively all throughout- this T20 World Cup 2026 has been none other than Jasprit Bumrah. Time and again, the lanky pacer who bowls with a sense of intelligence and magic up his sleeve has been brought into the attack and he’s rewarded the faith of his team and its captain by capturing useful wickets. The same was first evident in the super interesting must-win West Indies clash at Kolkata previously. Bumrah took the big wicket of the dangerous Shimron Hetmyer and that changed the tonality of Windies scoring. And just recently amid a packed capacity crowd at Mumbai’s Wankhede, Bumrah pulled off a magical spell when brought back again into the attack in the 11th over against England in a do or die clash where the winner were to progress into the final competition.

Monitoring his great spells throughout this World Cup has been South African cricketer, a famous performer none other than Faf du Plessis.

The celebrated cricketer lavished effusive praise on India’s pace spearhead.

Former South Africa captain Faf du Plessis showered praise on India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah after his crucial spell helped India secure a seven-run victory over England national cricket team in the semi-final of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup on Thursday, March 5, at the Wankhede Stadium. Bumrah returned figures of 1/33 in his four overs as India successfully defended a daunting total of 253, restricting England to 246/7 to book their place in the final.

The Indian pacer delivered a particularly impressive effort during the death overs, stepping up at a time when runs were flowing freely from the other end on what was an excellent batting surface in Mumbai. Reflecting on Bumrah’s impact, du Plessis described him as a captain’s dream and likened his presence in the team to having a magical advantage. “Team India probably doesn’t realise how fortunate they are to have him in their side,” du Plessis said on ESPNcricinfo’s TimeOut show.

“Time and again, across formats, you simply give him the ball and he wins you games. It’s a superpower every captain would want — almost like having a genie where you rub the lamp and Bumrah appears to deliver the magic.”
