RCB creates history, posts highest score in IPL Playoffs
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) scripted history by posting 254/5 against the Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Qualifier 1 match of IPL 2026 at Dharamsala. This mammoth total officially stands as the highest team score in the history of the IPL playoffs and knockouts, completely smashing the previous record. Openers Venkatesh Iyer and Virat Kohli didn't waste a second. Iyer attacked Mohammed Siraj for 14 runs in the very first over. After Iyer fell for a quick 19, Devdutt Padikkal blasted Kagiso Rabada for three consecutive boundaries. RCB raced to 76/1 by the end of the Powerplay. GT’s veteran all-rounder Jason Holder momentarily pulled things back for the Titans, striking twice in the 9th over to dismiss both Kohli (43 off 25) and Padikkal (30 off 19). RCB suddenly slumped to 94/3.
GT bowler Kulwant Khejroliya bowled a disastrous, erratic 15th over featuring two no-balls, a wide, a beamer, and a costly misfield. RCB plundered 28 runs from that single over, shifting the score to 168/3 and blowing the game wide open. RCB scored an unbelievable 114 runs in their final 6 overs. Rajat Patidar and Krunal Pandya combined for a blistering 95-run partnership. Even after Pandya departed for 43 off 28, Jitesh Sharma chipped in with a rapid 15 off just 5 balls to push the final score to 254/5. Before this match, the highest team total in an IPL knockout match belonged to the Gujarat Titans (233/3 against MI in 2023). RCB didn't just beat that record—they shattered it by 21 runs, putting immense psychological pressure on GT for the 255-run chase.
