Finn Allen played a monumental, whirlwind innings of 93 runs off just 35 balls for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) against the Gujarat Titans (GT). Playing in Match 60 of the IPL 2026 season at Eden Gardens, the explosive New Zealand opener narrowly missed out on a historic century. He was dismissed by spinner Sai Kishore in the 12th over of the innings when Rashid Khan caught him at wide long-on. Facing an elite Gujarat Titans (GT) attack after Shubman Gill opted to bowl, Allen initially found it hard to get going. While Ajinkya Rahane was timing the ball, Allen was mistiming deliveries from Kagiso Rabada and Mohammed Siraj.
Allen survived two dropped catches early in his innings, including a critical drop by Mohammed Siraj when he was on 31 runs, after which he shifted gears into total destruction mode. He went completely berserk in the 11th over, dismantling Arshad Khan by whacking him for three sixes and a boundary to fast-track KKR's total past the 100-mark. He registered a rapid 21-ball half-century during the onslaught. By hitting 10 sixes during this innings, Finn Allen became the first player in IPL history to hit 10 or more sixes twice in a single season, matching his feat from his blistering 100* (47) against Delhi Capitals earlier in May 2026.

Finn Allen crosses 5500 run-mark in T20s
Finn Allen crossed the 5,500-run milestone in T20 cricket during his devastating 93-run knock against the Gujarat Titans. While he technically became the fastest batsman in cricket history to reach 5,000 T20 runs by balls faced (2,854 balls) earlier in February 2026 during the T20 World Cup, his continuous run-fest in IPL 2026 has now pushed his overall domestic and franchise T20 counter well past the 5,000 mark. He is one of only 10 New Zealand batsmen in cricket history to accumulate 5,000 runs in the T20 format.

He reached this massive tier in only his 173rd T20 career innings, cementing himself as one of the most prolific modern-day openers. Among all global batsmen who have crossed 5,000 T20 runs, Allen boasts the highest career strike rate in history, currently floating at an astonishing 180.60. With 27 sixes in only 9 debut-season matches, Allen is currently just 4 sixes away from breaking Sanath Jayasuriya’s 2008 record (31 sixes) for the most maximums hit by a batsman in their debut IPL season.
