The Tamil Nadu-based cricketer replaced Matt Henry in Chennai Super Kingsâ playing XI for the IPL 2026 match against Delhi Capitals at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, and he made a memorable start to his IPL career by taking a wicket on the first ball of his first over. In an attempt to play a cut shot of Gurjapneetâs bowling, Axar was caught by Sarfaraz Khan.

This is quite a remarkable feat to achieve by any bowler. Ishant Sharma was the first player to take a wicket on the first ball of his first-ever IPL match. He achieved the feat for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2008 match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Bengaluru on April 18, 2008.

Ishant Sharma
In his 2008 IPL debut for Kolkata Knight Riders, Ishant Sharma took the wicket of the then Royal Challengers Bangalore player Rahul Dravid.
Wilkin Mota
Getting Suresh Raina out on debut from Chennai Super Kings is a huge feat and not an easy task but Wilking Mota from Kings XI Punjab did so in the year 2008 itself
Shane Harwood
In the year 2009, representing Rajasthan Royals, Shane Harwood took the wicket of Azhar Bilakhia from Deccan Chargers
Amit Singh
Yet another bowler from the Rajasthan Royals in the year 2009 who achieved this incredible feat by dismissing the then Kings XI Punjab batsman opener, Sunny Sohal, in his first ball.
Charl Langeveldt
Making his debut for Kolkata Knight Riders in the year 2009, he took his debut first ball wicket of RR batsman Rob Quiney.
Ali Murtaza
Bowling for the Mumbai Indians in his debut in the year 2010, he took the wicket of Naman Ojha of RR to claim this incredible feat.
Mahesh Pathirana and Ashwini Kumar
They are rather the new entrees in the list. Pathirana we all remember in year 2022 debuting for CSK took the wicket of Shubman Gill of Gujarat Titans and hit the Ronaldo celebration which gave him quite a limelight. Ashwani Kumar last year took wicket of KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane in his dream debut for Mumbai Indians.
