The team was officially launched on April 20, 2026, as the latest addition to the six-team league. The team is based in Glasgow. The franchise is backed by a blend of media entrepreneurs and cricketing legends. The primary owner of the team is Tanisha who serves as the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) at Mugafi, a media and entertainment platform that acts as the team's founding partner, alongside Chris Gayle and Abhishek Bachchan along with business partners Saurav Banerjee, Priyanka Kaul, and Dhiraj Malhotra.
The team is further supported by the Mugafi Group, a media and entertainment platform founded by Vipul Agrawal, which provides the commercial, content, and digital services for the franchise. While the full 15-player squad for the 2026 season is still being finalised through upcoming drafts, the franchise aims to blend international stars with local Scottish talent to professionalise the sport in the region. The team is expected to play its home matches at The Grange Club in Edinburgh, which has been designated as a key venue for the Scottish leg of the ETPL tournament. Other confirmed league captains include Mitchell Marsh for the Amsterdam Flames and Mitchell Santner for the Edinburgh Castle Rockers.

ETPL 2026 Tournament Format
The ETPL is an ICC-sanctioned professional Twenty20 league that serves as a multi-national collaboration between the national cricket boards of Scotland, Ireland, and the Netherlands. The inaugural season is scheduled to run from August 26 to September 20, 2026.
The Glasgow Mugafians will compete in a total of 33 matches throughout the inaugural season, which runs from August 26 to September 20, 2026. The tournament structure includes a round-robin stage followed by playoffs, bringing together high-profile global cricketing names such as Steve Waugh, Glenn Maxwell, and Kyle Mills, who are also involved as franchise owners in the league.
