Pakistan have done really well to keep their semi-final hopes alive with an outstanding batting performance against Sri Lanka. The Falcons arrived in this game with little chance to go through, but have trusted their instincts and can very well make it now. At the centre of this has been the opening duo of Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan.
Zaman and Farhan came up with a 176 run opening stand and got Pakistan to a flying start at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. It is a must win game for Pakistan and they have to win by a huge margin to leapfrog New Zealand’s Net Run Rate (NRR) and secure a semi-final berth.
Tonight’s performance by Fakhar Zaman and Sahibzada Farhan will go down in the history books if Pakistan manage to pull off the unthinkable. Sahibzada Farhan has also made a huge record at the World Cup by taking over from Virat Kohli for scoring the most runs in a single edition of the T20 World Cup.
Farhan has been enjoying a phenomenal run of form with the bat in the ongoing edition and has already scored over 300 runs. Meanwhile Fakhar Zaman was promoted up and order and he came in big at the right time. Zaman racked up 84 off 42 with a strike rate of 200 as Pakistan were eyeing a total of 200 or more. His innings included nine fours and four sixes.
Farhan scored a brilliant and historic century that will be remembered for the ages considering the circumstances Pakistan were in. He led the way for Pakistan with a well deserved century. He showcased some incredible batting with a presence of mind to strengthen his side’s winning credentials. Farhan is now the only batter to have scored two centuries in a single edition of the T20
World Cup.
