It could be said that sometimes, the problem of plenty is a good problem to have. Teams regularly, if not always suffer from a talent crunch that tends to lead to some sort of a vacuum. India have plenty of talented leaders with the bat who can get the job done up the order where there seems to be a persistent issue. But this isn’t really a good problem to nurse when you’re in midst of vital and decisive tournaments such as the ongoing ICC men’s T20 World Cup. And while it may not really seem like a woe, the selection crisis that India are dealing with, with regards to Abhishek Sharma’s lack of form has led to issues. And there are constantly issues that seem to crop up toward the build up of vital games such as the next one or the forthcoming one.

India are due to lock horns aaginst Zimbabwe, a contest they must find a way to win. And win by a comprehensive margin they must if they are to keep their semi final qualification bid alive.

But ahead of this much anticipated possibly high octane Super 8 clash, former India batter Virender Sehwag, a man known for his heartfelt takes and no nonsense approach to Cricket (something that mirrors his batting style back in the day) has had his take on Abhishek Sharma.

Let it be noted that the left hander hasn’t made any runs as such and his 3 ducks have ruined his form and there’s a total lack of confidence in his abilities at the moment.

But Sehwag has said the following:

Former India opener Virender Sehwag has stirred debate ahead of the high-voltage ICC Men's T20 World Cup clash between India and Zimbabwe, stating that he would have rested young opener Abhishek Sharma for the crucial fixture.

Speaking in a pre-match discussion, Sehwag suggested that the team management may be overexposing the young batter in high-pressure encounters.

“Sometimes, giving a youngster a short break helps reset mentally. Big tournaments can take a toll,” Sehwag reportedly said.

Selection Dilemma for India India’s top order has shown flashes of brilliance but also inconsistency.

With qualification scenarios tightening, team balance and experience could prove decisive.

The IND vs ZIM contest is seen as a must-win encounter, adding further scrutiny to selection decisions. While Abhishek has impressed with his fearless stroke play, critics believe rotation could help maintain freshness heading into the knockout stages.
