India suffered a defeat against South Africa in the Super 8 match at Ahmedabad. This defeat meant that India’s unbeaten streak ends and this was their first loss in ICC Events since the 2023 World Cup Final. Post the World Cup 2023 Final, India won the 2024 WT20 by remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament. They won eight matches and had one wash out in that tournament to clinch the T20 World Cup title. After that they won the Champions Trophy 2025 going unbeaten throughout the tournament winning five matches including the Final. After that India started the 2026 ICC WT20 by winning all their four group stage matches. This took the tally 17 wins in a row before this match against South Africa. Unfortunately, this streak of 17 wins in a row in ICC matches came to an end as India suffered a defeat against South Africa.
