The Delhi Capitals have a huge test against the Rajasthan Royals away from home on Friday and there will be some reported changes in their starting squad. We could see the first match of Prithvi Shaw in a long time as he is expected to replace Sahil Parakh in the squad. Sahil Parakh came in place of Pathum Nissanka against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru but was out for a two-ball duck. Mitchell Starc is set to feature against the Rajasthan Royals as he will be playing his first game of the tournament. Lungisiani Ngidi has been declared fit but he wouldn’t feature in their starting squad and Abhishek Porel is also set to be included in Delhi’s first team.

Axar Patel and his men will be eyeing a comeback in the game against the Rajasthan Royals as their recent form has been terrible and their previous match will be one to forget for the side. They have been experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions and performances as they struggled to defend 264 against the Punjab Kings and in the next game their batters disappointed against RCB. They will need to find some sort of momentum to get their season up and running as if they continue with their current form, they could fall well short of the top 4 in the table.

Struggling Delhi Capitals bank on fresh inclusions to revive season hopes

In the first couple of games for the Delhi Capitals, they unearthed a new gem in Sameer Rizvi and he was finishing matches for the side. Pathum Nissanka gave them a couple of solid starts along with KL Rahul, who laid the foundation for the innings. It seemed like they were a side impossible to get past with the kind of form they were in but somewhere in between they lost shape. Their bowlers were in fine touch as Lungisiani Ngidi was brilliant with his slow balls and execution of plans. Their spin department is arguably one of the best in the business with Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav and Vipraj Nigam.

Delhi Capitals have won just one out of their last 6 games and their form has been disappointing. They lost a close encounter against the Gujarat Titans with plenty of questions regarding the decision-making of David Miller. In the next game, they fell prey to the might of Sanju Samson as he won the game for Chennai Super Kings with a fine ton. They managed to edge past RCB in a last over thriller but the momentum was carried in the succeeding matches. Their most disappointing loss would be against the Punjab Kings as KL Rahul scored an unbelievable knock of 152 to fire his side to a total of 264. But, their bowlers failed to defend that total in what seemed like a guaranteed win. RCB completed their revenge in the next fixture as they humiliated Delhi Capitals by bowling them out for just 75 and they chased it down with 81 balls to spare.

With the reported changes to be made in their squad, they will be hoping that it will bring some good fortune to the side. The addition of Mitchell Starc and Prithvi Shaw would be two massive changes to the side and both players are match-winners. The performance of the two would most likely determine the future of the Delhi Capitals in this season.
