In the 2nd match of the IPL between the Mumbai Indians and the Kolkata Knight Riders, the Mumbai skipper, Hardik Pandya, won the toss and elected to field first. The KKR skipper, Ajinkya Rahane, suggested that there was a bit of grass on the pitch that could favour the team batting first. With Finn Allen opening the innings for the side, the Kolkata Knight Riders seemed all set for a destructive start in the power play.

The clash between the 5-time champions Mumbai Indians and the 3-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders was widely awaited by fans across the country. An interesting decision by Hardik Pandya that was celebrated on the platform was the inclusion of Rohit Sharma in the bowling XI, as he was used as an impact player in the previous season. It will take some performance from the Knight Riders this evening to outplay the star-studded Mumbai Indians side.

The X viewers appreciated the Kolkata Knight Riders for their display of incredible power-hitting in the power play. Finn Allen, who has arguably been one of the best T20I openers this year, showed the world once again the amount of destruction he can cause with the bat. Finn Allen scored a quickfire knock of 37 from just 17 balls, including 6 fours and 2 sixes. Ajinkya Rahane complemented his partner very well with a knock of 36 from 18 balls, including 3 fours and 3 sixes.

However, the Mumbai Indians fans seemed quite disappointed with their team on the X platform after a few questionable decisions were made. Trent Boult didn’t look to be at his best, but he could have been given the 3rd over in the powerplay with the new ball, but Hardik Pandya decided to go with the debutant, Allah Ghazanfar. Finn Allen smashed 2 sixes and a four against Allah Ghazanfar. But the wicket of Finn Allen in the 6th over led to tons of praise for Shardul Thakur.

The IPL 2026 season has just begun, and the fans already seem to be overwhelmed by their teams. With KKR off to a fantastic start in the power play, the Mumbai Indians will be hopeful that they can pick a few wickets and push the KKR onto the back foot before it’s too late.
