Sanju Samson's form in the recently concluded T20 World Cup caught everyone's eyes. Sanju, who didn't start in India's playing 11, eventually became the player of the tournament. Sanju smashed three back-to-back half centuries, amassing 321 runs in the tournament, 2 more than legendary Virat Kohli in single T20 World Cup tournament. Post his heroic run, Sanju received lauds from former cricketers across the globe.

Two of which are former Australian speedsters - Glenn McGrath and Jason Gillespie. Both ended up praising Sanju Samson and were even surprised that Sanju has played just a handful ODIs for India. He felt that Sanju deserves more chances in the ODI set up for India and is quite surprised with the number of opportunities the player has received till now.

Surprised that he has played such few ODIs - Jason Gillespie

"He ended up being the secod-highest run-scorer in the tournament. He came home with a wet sail at the backend of the tournament. It surprises me how few ODIs he has played for India. But he deserves a lot of credit for what he did," said Jason Gillespie.

Glenn McGrath appreciated his calmness and composure in the crunch situation. Sanju Samson smashed unbeaten 97 against West Indies in the Super 8 encounter, 89 against England in semi final and another 89 runs against New Zealand in final of T20 World Cup.

"The thing I like about Sanju Samson is how relaxed he is. His expression never changes. He looks like he's too cool. He is a bit of a Mark Waugh kind of character. I would say he is between a Mark Waugh and a Damien Martyn," said McGrath.
