West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder has made some shocking statements regarding the India-Pakistan tussle, regarding IPL owners not allowing Pakistan players and the Asia Cup Fiasco. In an interview with Game on with Grace, Jason Holder was asked a few questions and he had answers, some of which are surprising.
Jason Holder says that sports should be separate from politics and he has urged cricket to play a stronger role in easing long-standing political tensions, saying the ongoing India–Pakistan divide is “sad” and should not be allowed to overshadow the game.
Talking about the India- Pakistan Rivalry, he said he is not a big fan of it. Speaking on the podcast, Holder said “Honestly, I don’t like this whole India–Pakistan beef. Seeing how it goes far beyond the cricket field is just sad, because these are two powerhouses of world cricket.”
Jason Holder also stressed that elite cricketers carry big influence that can inspire people outside the cricketing world. “If you’re inspiring a generation and inspiring the world, then we have to find a way to come together,” Holder said. While acknowledging the political history between the two countries, he added that cricket could still be a starting point for change.
Tensions between India and Pakistan were at its peak in 2025, Holder said that he has big respect for both nations. “They’re beautiful countries with incredible people and cultures. That’s why moments like this hurt everyone who loves cricket.” Holder added.
Jason Holder also said that Indian owners in certain teams are not allowing or picking up Pakistan players and that he is not a fan of this behaviour. “Certain Pakistanis can’t be involved in certain teams because they’re owned by Indian owners. It’s just sad, man,” Recently in the ILT20 no team owned by Indians had any Pakistan players in the squad. However in CPL and few other leagues there are Pakistan players playing in Indian owned teams. So while Jason Holder is not entirely correct here his point makes sense in some leagues.
The West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder ended the podcast by talking about keeping sportsman spirit alive. “We talk about unity and growing the game,” he said. “So let’s practise what we preach and bring cricket together and build healthier relationships. Some of these statements have been going viral on twitter and fans are taking sides.
