Is Jasprit Bumrah finally back? Well, it looks like that! The Mumbai Indians fast bowler finally put an end to his performance slump and recorded his first wicket of the season. The Indians were up against the Gujarat Titans in the 30th game of the season at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday, April 20. The game saw home skipper Shubman Gill win the toss and invite the rivals to bat first.
The Indians rode on Tilak Varma’s unbeaten 101 runs off 45 to put on a modest total of 199 runs with the loss of five wickets. In return, the Titans got off to a disappointing start and lost their first wicket on the first ball of the innings. Bumrah, who was wicketless since the beginning of the season, ended his drought and dismissed Sai Sudharsan on a golden duck.
The game also marked the seventh time that Jasprit Bumrah bowled the first over of an innings in the IPL. Before today, he’d done that twice in 2014, thrice in 2018 and once in 2022.

Gujarat Titans loss two wickets in two overs
After losing Sudharsan on the first ball, the Titans lost Joss Butler on the second ball of the second over. Hardik Pandya bowled a lengthy delivery, and the Englishman rooted to the crease and played down the wrong line. It got stuck on the pads and while initially it looked like it would miss the leg stump but the replay showed that it was clipping. The Titans lost their review, and their star batter at just five runs off six deliveries.
