The Indian team collapses against South Africa in the Super 8 of T20 World Cup 2026. Chasing 188, Indian team found themselves in an absolute trouble. It looked like the Proteas had answers for each and everything. India lost Ishan Kishan in the first over, and also lost Tilak Varma and Abhishek Sharma early in the innings. Suryakumar Yadav tried to stabilise the innings, however, he couldn't last on the wicket for long. The wickets kept tumbling and eventually losing the game. Interestingly, Keshav Maharaj, who went for 22 runs in the first two overs, picked three wickets in his third over - putting South Africa in the commanding position.
Keshav Maharaj produced a sensational game-changing over against India, picking up three wickets in a single over to derail the chase and swing momentum firmly in South Africa’s favour.
The carnage began when Maharaj dismissed Hardik Pandya, who tried to loft a slightly short delivery but mistimed it off the bottom of the bat. Tristan Stubbs showed excellent awareness at long-off, juggling the ball beyond the boundary rope before returning inside to complete a stunning catch.
Just two balls later, Maharaj struck again. Rinku Singh attempted to attack a slower, shorter ball but miscued it toward long-on, where Stubbs once again sprinted across to take a sharp sliding catch, leaving India seven down and in deep trouble.
The over ended in dramatic fashion as Maharaj removed Arshdeep Singh. The tailender danced down the track trying to clear the field but hit it straight to long-on, and Stubbs completed his third catch of the over — a rare fielding feat to go along with Maharaj’s triple strike.
In the space of six balls, the match turned completely on its head, highlighting how one inspired over can decide a high-pressure contest.
