Indian cricket icon Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been fined for overs speeding ahead of the IPL 2026. As per reports from India Today, MS Dhoni has been issued an e-challan according to Section 183 of the Motor Vehicles Act for violating traffic rules near his residence. The challan was given as per the traffic department’s automated surveillance system. MS Dhoni has been fined an amount of INR 1000 and this incident occurred in his home town of Ranchi, Jharkhand. Dhoni loves his cars and bikes and he usually rides these vehicles inside the city and has been spotted many times by fans from afar.

He usually wears a helmet on the bike which is why fans cannot notice him unless they look very keenly. This is not the first incident regarding cricketers being fined as before this Rohit Sharma was also issued a challan for over speeding during the 2023 World Cup. Rohit was driving a Lamborghini car at the Mumbai-Pune expressway and was fined for the same.

MS Dhoni has begun his preparations for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League. The CSK legend will be in action once again as IPL begins in the final week of March. MS Dhoni was retained by Chennai Super Kings as an uncapped player for INR 4 Crore ahead of the auction. As per the uncapped rule, players who have retired from international for more than 5 years will fall in this category and hence he was picked up as an uncapped player.

MS Dhoni will turn 44 in this edition and the veteran is still going strong. In the previous edition he has played 13 matches and scored 196 runs at a strike rate of 135. He also won a man of the match and the CSK franchise will be hoping the veteran player can turn back the clock. Chennai Super Kings also have brought Sanju Samson in the team for this year which means if Dhoni is not fit enough, he could miss a few matches. Karthik Sharma is another player who can do the wicket-keeping duties for CSK so they have it covered even if MS Dhoni does miss a few games.
