The Mumbai Indians missed out on their sixth title last season after losing to the Punjab Kings in Qualifier 2. This year, they will be looking to bounce back and try to win the trophy to become the most successful team in the tournament. They have upgraded their squad this season and are arguably the strongest team in IPL 2025 on paper. The whole squad is solid, but their middle order could be the key for them this season.
Why Mumbai Indians’ Middle Order Depth Could Be Their Biggest Strength
Mumbai Indian’s middle order is one of the strongest middle orders this season of any team in IPL 2026. MI's middle order features players like Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, and Will Jacks.
Notably, all four of them are key players for their national side and performed amazingly well in the recently concluded ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Tilak has scored 207 runs with a 154.47 strike rate, and Suryakumar smashed 242 runs. Will Jacks and Hardik Pandya contributed amazingly well with both bat and ball. Hardik scored 217 runs and took 9 wickets, while Jacks smashed 226 runs and took 9 wickets as well.

Their current form and experience make these players dangerous for the opposition. Tilak and Surya can play an attacking form of cricket as well as anchor the innings if needed, while Hardik and Jacks are known for their hard hitting at the end.
