
On this day, April 13: Shimron Hetmyer heroics as Rajasthan Royals win a thriller against Punjab Kings. It was the 27th match of the season between Punjab and Rajasthan. Punjab Kings were batting first and they had a slow start with both openers struggling. They lost the first four wickets with just 52 runs on the board at the halfway mark. Rajasthan Royals bowlers were excellent in the power play and continued putting the pressure. Jitesh Sharma built a partnership with Liam Livingstone to bring Punjab Kings back in the game and Livingstone fell for 21 as they were in further trouble. Ashutosh Sharma was excellent and smashed 31 runs of just 16 balls which included three sixes and a four. It was a terrific knock from him as he helped Punjab Kings post a total of 147/8 at the end of the first innings.
Chasing the target, Rajasthan Royals openers got off to a good start as they put up a fifty run partnership. Jaiswal smashed 39 runs and PBKS were cruising the chase at 82/1 but Punjab Kings bowlers bounced back and had reduced them to 89/3 in a matter of few overs. Rajasthan Royals once again had a mini collapse as they went from 113/3 to 115/5 losing a few more wickets. The chase was getting tougher.
Punjab Kings bowlers were putting the pressure and the required rate was getting bigger as the game was evenly poised. Shimron Hetmyer played a cameo of 27 runs from just 10 balls at a strike rate of 270 as Rajasthan Royals won the game in the last over. He smashed a few sixes to Arshdeep Singh in the final over to help his side get over the line in a thrilling fashion. It was an incredible game of cricket.
