On this day, April 15, 2023: Virat Kohli steals the show as Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Delhi Capitals. It was the 20th match of the IPL 2023 played between Delhi Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. RCB were put into bat first on a slightly two paced and tricky surface. RCB openers provided a quick start to the team as both Virat and Faf went all guns blazing in the first four overs. Faf Du Plessis was the first to be dismissed for 22 as RCB lost their first wicket for 42 in the fifth over of the innings.
Virat Kohli continued to anchor the innings and made a well compiled half century to put RCB right on top at the ten over mark. Kohli lost his wicket after completing his half century. Maxwell and Lomror contributed with useful cameos as RCB went at a good run rate. Delhi Capitals bounced back by picking up a few wickets quickly.
Anuj Rawat struggled in the middle as he could score just 15 runs from 22 balls and RCB could not get a big finish as they ended up with 174/6 at the end of the first innings. It was a par score on that surface but RCB did leave out a few runs in the death overs. The game was evenly poised at the halfway mark and both sides were in the game.
Chasing the target, Delhi Capitals lost plenty of wickets early as they lost their first three wickets with just two runs on the board. RCB new ball bowlers Siraj and Parnell did the damage. Vyshak Kumar came into the attack and continued to apply pressure as he picked up three wickets. For Delhi Capitals, Manish Pandey scored a half century but he found no support from the other end as Delhi ended with 151/9 and lost the game by 23 runs. Virat Kohli was the player of the match for his terrific knock.
