On this day, April 2, 2025: Mohammad Siraj and Buttler shine to sink RCB at home. It was Royal Challengers Bengaluru taking on Gujarat Titans at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Former RCB bowler, Mohammad Siraj who was playing for GT wreaked havoc with the new ball to put Royal Challengers Bengaluru under immense pressure. It was a terrific new ball spell from Siraj as RCB were reduced to 35/3. Virat Kohli lost his wicket to left arm pacer Arshad Khan and then Siraj took the wickets of Salt and Padikkal as RCB were under early pressure.
Gujarat Titans pacers kept coming as Ishant Sharma struck early to take the wicket of Patidar and RCB were four down with less than 50 runs on the board. Jitesh Sharma and Liam Livingstone consolidated and rescued Gujarat Titans. Liam Livingstone fought very well as he made a well compiled half century to help RCB get to a score of more than 150. Jitesh scored 33 while Tim David played an excellent cameo of 32 lower down the order as RCB finished with 169/7 at the end of the first innings.
It was a good score after the situation they were in after powerplay. Rashid Khan had a forgettable match as he gave away 54 runs and went wicket less. On the other hand, Siraj picked up three wickets in the game as Gujarat Titans were in the game at the halfway stage.
Chasing the target, Gujarat Titans were in trouble early but Jos Buttler smashed a half century while Sudharshan and Rutherford made useful contributions as Gujarat Titans chased down the target in 18 overs with eight wicket spare. It was a memorable night for Mohammad Siraj who picked up three wickets in his former home ground while Jos Buttler showed his class and composure in the game to help the Titans get home.
