On this day, April 8,2023: Yashasvi Jaiswal and Buttler shone bright as Rajasthan Royals beat Delhi Capitals. It was the 11th match of IPL 2023 with Rajasthan Royals taking on Delhi Capitals. This match was played at Jaipur and Rajasthan Royals were batting first. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler were opening the batting and put up a terrific opening partnership. The duo stitched up a 98 run opening partnership within nine overs as Rajasthan Royals were right on top of the game.
Jaiswal and Buttler completed their half centuries to put Rajasthan Royals in a very strong position. Jaiswal smashed 60 runs off just 31 balls before getting dismissed and it was a terrific innings from the youngster. RR continued to motor along but lost Samson and Parag cheaply in a matter of few overs and Delhi Capitals made a slight comeback.
Jos Buttler made the acceleration and Shimron Hetmyer played an excellent cameo as Rajasthan Royals ended up with 199/4 at the end of the first innings. Jos Buttler made 79 while Hetmyer scored 39 as Rajasthan finished on a high note and it was an above par total on that surface. It was a tough day for the Delhi Capitals bowlers as all of them struggled.
Chasing the target, Delhi Capitals lost two wickets in the first over with no run on the board and were under immense pressure. David Warner and Rilee Rossouw built a partnership to consolidate things and later Lalit Yadav played a few shots. David Warner was the lone warrior as he smashed a half century but Delhi kept losing wickets which made it tougher for them in the chase. David Warner ended with 65 while Lalit scored 38 but no other batters could step up as Delhi Capitals were restricted for 142/6. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the player of the match for his terrific performance and he stole the show.
