
On this day, February 17, 2013: Australia Women won their sixth World Cup as they beat West Indies in Mumbai. They showed their dominance as they won by 114 runs which is the highest margin in terms of runs in a Final. Australia Women scored 259 runs in the first innings as Australia Women put up a terrific effort. Australia Women were batting first and started really well with an opening partnership of 50. The first wicket fell at 52. Haynes scored a very good half century but Australia lost a few wickets in the middle. Jessica Duffin held the innings together and played a terrific knock of 75 runs from 76 balls which included eight fours and two sixes.
This innings set the platform perfectly for Australia Women and they had a very good finish. Ellyse Perry batting lower down the order smashed 25 runs while Jodie Fields scored 38 as Australia Women reached a total of 259 at the end of the first innings. It was an above par total and a terrific effort from Australia Women. Chasing a target of 259, Megan Schutt bowled brilliantly with the new ball and West Indies Women lost three quick wickets within 50 runs on the board.
Ellyse Perry picked up three wickets while spinner Osborne scalped two wickets as Australia Women created history by winning the World Cup for a record sixth time and that too by a huge margin. West Indies Women were bowled out for just 145 and no batter could really get going and the highest scorer of the innings was 23.

The player of the match was Jessica Duffin who played a brilliant innings to propel Australia Women to that total and they were absolutely clinical with the ball to clinch the title. They were the deserved winners and it was a very successful captain for Australia Women under the captaincy of Jodie Fields. It was a memorable day for Australian cricket fans as they clinched the title on this day almost a decade back and the World Cup was held in India.
