On this day, February 19, 2023: India beat Australia within 3 days to take 2-0 lead in Border Gavaskar Trophy. Australia were batting first in the second Test and got off to a good start with the openers putting up a fifty run partnership. Warner was the first to fall as Shami provided India with the breakthrough. Usman Khawaja scored a terrific half century but Australia had a middle order collapse.
Australia went from 91/1 to 108/4 as they crumbled against Ashwin and Shami. Peter Handscomb played a very good knock as he remained unbeaten on 72 but found no support from the other batters as Australia were bowled out for 223 in the first innings. It was a disappointing effort as they started the match well but gave away plenty of wickets.

For India it was Mohammad Shami who stole the show with four wickets. Ravi Ashwin and Jadeja picked up three wickets each as India made a great comeback. In the second innings, India were in all sorts of trouble as Australia came out with some outstanding bowling. India were 125/5 and were in real trouble of conceding a big lead. Dhruv Jurel stitched a partnership with Kohli and then Ashwin to help India recover. Kohli fell for 44 but Jurel carried on and scored a half century. He was dismissed for 74 as India reached 262 before getting all out.
They conceded Australia a lead of 1 run and the match was right in the balance. Nathan Lyon picked up five wickets for Australia. Australia once again in the third innings started well putting up 85 runs for the loss of one wicket. But Jadeja and Ashwin had other ideas as they bundled out Australia for just 113. It was an epic collapse as Jadeja picked up seven wickets while Ashwin took three wickets.
India were set a target of 114 and it was easy from there. India chased down the target comfortably as they scored 118/4 and won the match by six wickets. This match was completed within 3 days as India took a 2-0 lead in the BGT. Ravi Jadeja was the player of the match for his all-round performance.
