Virat Kohli breaks his silence on being called overseas player for RCB

Virat Kohli has recently faced criticism on social media for reportedly shifting his base to London, with some users even mocking the move.

Despite the chatter, Kohli has returned to the Indian Premier League in strong fashion, delivering a match-winning performance for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in their season opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The star batter appears focused on helping RCB defend the title they secured for the first time last season.

Interestingly, Kohli entered the tournament without much preparation, having taken a break after Indiaโ€™s last ODI series in January before heading to England. He has been spending considerable time in London with his family to avoid constant public attention in India, usually returning only for major cricketing commitments. This change, however, has not impacted his recent performances. Addressing the online criticism in a light-hearted interaction with host Danish Saitโ€”who appeared as his popular character Mr. Nagsโ€”Kohli responded to jokes about him being treated like an overseas player.

When Sait remarked that people were saying RCB were playing five overseas players, Kohli smiled and replied, โ€œI donโ€™t know why youโ€™re asking meโ€”ask the overseas players. Iโ€™m not one. Am I an overseas player?โ€

Perhaps the fans or critics who are unnecessarily targeting the great cricketer themselves know that this allegation is needles and far from the truth.
