Perth Scorchers are by far one of the most successful team in the history of BBL. On January 21, they proved in once again by beating Sydney Sixers in the Qualifier 1 to book a place in the home final. Perth defended a target of 147 and were excellent in the bowling and fielding departments. Sydney Sixers will get a second shot at the Final in Friday’s Challenger, where they will face the Stars or the Hurricanes while Perth Scorchers will await the winner in the Final.
N the end, it proved far too many for the Sixers who will now head home to Sydney tomorrow for a second crack at reaching the Final when they host the winner of the Hurricanes-Stars Knockout clash at the SCG on Friday night. Pacer Mahli Beardman who has been picked in the squad for the upcoming Pakistan tour sparked a remarkable Perth Scorchers fightback as season’s top-ranked side sealed their spot in the BBL 15 Final. Beardman took 3 wickets for 20 runs as Scorchers made a terrific comeback. They had the home support with more than 30,000 Scorchers fans cheering as the team also secured hosting rights for next Sunday’s Final at Optus Stadium.

Perth Scorchers were batting first and Finn Allen continued his blazing form smashing 49 runs of 30 balls but wickets kept falling from the other hand. The next highest score in the Perth innings was 29 by Ashton Turner. Perth Scorchers were restricted for just 147 in the first innings and it was a below par total and Sixers would have fancied chasing it. After they set 148 to win the Qualifier the Sydney Sixers run chase began poorly as Cooper Connolly had Pakistan star Babar Azam stumped second ball for a silver duck. Steve Smith looked in glorious touch as he scored 37 runs of 24 balls but Sydney Sixers kept losing wickets and, in the end, they were bowled out for just 99 in 15 overs. Finn Allen won the player of the match.
