The Punjab Kings opener Priyansh Arya has brought up yet another half-century in the season and this time against the Delhi Capitals. The PBKS skipper Shreyas Iyer advised the batters to play according to his instincts and Priyansh Arya followed it perfectly, as he started with a six. Mitchell Starc, one of the premium fast bowlers in the IPL, was welcomed with a six and he went on to concede 22 runs off the very first over. After 4 matches without a half-century, Priyansh Arya has broken the deadlock with a fine fifty and it has been the perfect moment for the Punjab Kings as they would be desperate to break their losing streak.

Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya have been quiet in the last couple of games and they have finally found their rhythm with a fine powerplay. They scored 72 runs off the first 6 overs in the innings and it has been a solid start for the Punjab Kings. The powerplay was split into halves as they scored 51 runs off the first three overs but the Delhi Capitals bounced back by conceding just 21 runs off the final three overs.

Punjab Kings eye a massive total after Priyansh Arya’s explosive start against Delhi Capitals

The Delhi Capitals won the toss and they decided to send the Punjab Kings out to bat first. The start has been a solid one for the Punjab Kings as Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh have been able to find the boundary gaps. Mitchell Starc and Auqib Nabi were belted in the first couple of overs and there seemed to be no respite for them. Priyansh Arya has got to a couple of half-centuries this season and he has been one of their primary sources of runs in this season. The wicket of Prabhsimran Singh would be a good opening for the Delhi Capitals to capitalize on the breakthrough.

Shreyas Iyer has taken responsibility and promoted himself up the order ahead of Cooper Connolly to probably maintain the left-right combination. They will be hoping to form a partnership as the runs have dried up at the moment and the reason it isn’t being felt is because of the first 3 overs. They have only managed to score about 40 runs from the last 5 overs and the Capitals have bowled really well. The Punjab Kings would be eyeing a total above 220 to get to the safe zone and it will be interesting to see how the Capitals will contain a power-packed batting unit.
