Ahead of the CSK vs RCB match tomorrow at Chinnaswamy Stadium, a ceremony was held amongst stalwarts and family members, with the presence of veterans Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble, to unveil the Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble stand.
The Karnataka State Cricket Association president and old teammate of the two legends, Venkatesh Prasad and vice-president Sujith Somasundar were present at the official unveiling along with other eminent people. The KSCA had announced long back on February 14 that Dravid who has of 24,177 international runs, Kumble, who has 956 international wickets, and former India women's cricketer Shanta Rangaswamy will have ends named after them at the Chinnaswamy.
The former BEML end is now named as Rahul Dravid Stand and pavilion end was named as Anil Kumble stand. Even the RCB star and modern day cricket legend Virat Kohli was present in the ceremony and was seen applauding for the teo legends.
Speaking at the hour of the event, Rahul Dravid described the Chinnaswamy as a “second home”, reflecting on the countless hours he spent at the ground during his career. He thanked the KSCA for the honour and said it was a moment that meant a great deal to both him and his family. He was also a part of RCB team since advent of IPL so definitely he has memories with the ground.
Dravid’s mother Pushpa, and brother Vijay were present at the ceremony, while Kumble attended with his wife, Chetana and their children. All were seen overwhelmed and emotional.
Sunday RCB also won against CSK comfortably at home ground after their whole batting order played great innings and notably Tim David who played as an explosive finisher and taking RCB total to 250. As an answer to that CSK had an early collapse with only Sarfaraz Khan trying to atleast fight but they fell early to Duffya and Bhuvneswar Kumar. Bhuvneswar Kumar too completed his 200 wickets in IPL, joint highest in IPL with Chahal and highest as a pacer. RCB looks like a strong and balanced side under Andy Flower this year too and they definitely are the contenders to claim their second trophy this season too.
