Star actor Ram Charan issued an apology for mistakenly calling Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah a footballer. The actor was present at the grand music launch of “Peddi” in Bhopal with other actors and big names including Janhvi Kapoor, AR Rahman, and rest of the film’s team. During the event, he engaged in a media interaction where he was asked to describe several Indian cricketers in a few words. While he described the other cricketers, when it came to Jasprit Bumrah, Ram Charan mistakenly called him a footballer.
Notably, the RRR actor hailed Sachin Tendulkar for his “Long legendary run” and MS Dhoni for his “calm and cool”. In addition to it, he described Virat Kohli as “fire” and described Rohit Sharma as “he is everyone’s man.” When asked about Bumrah, he mixed up football and cricket and called him his favorite footballer while thanking the fast bowler for his ‘contribution’ in the sport. Needless to say, the video of his mistake quickly went viral on social media with fans commenting on his mistake and even creating memes.
Ram Charan apologies to Jasprit Bumrah
As the video went viral, the senior actor took to X to issue an apology to Bumrah and said that he is forgetful with names. “Uff… I'm genuinely so forgetful with names sometimes. Apologies to @Jaspritbumrah93 Ji for the mix-up - it was a genuine human error in the middle of all the excitement and the crowd.” He went on to say that he admires him and is a fan of his game. “I truly respect you and I am a huge fan of your game. You make every Indian feel proud when you consistently put batsmen on back foot,” Ram Charan added.
Coming to Jasprit Bumrah, the MI bowler had a forgetful campaign in the IPL 2026, where he could manage to pick only four wickets in 13 games. However, head coach Mahela Jayawardene revealed that Bumrah was fighting an unspecified injury in the earlier part of IPL 2026.
