Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant has lost several kilos ahead of the upcoming season of the IPL 2026. The wicket-keeper in the past has been criticized by many regarding his fitness but he has made a huge transformation in his off time as he looks to comeback with a bang. When it comes to white ball cricket, Pant has been out of favour and has not been part of the Indian setup since 2024. This upcoming edition of the IPL will be a good opportunity for him to showcase his skills as he tries to make a comeback to the national side. His first job would be to do well with the Lucknow Super Giants side in this edition.

Rishabh Pant was the highest paid player in 2025 but failed to perform well and except the century against RCB, he had failed the whole season. Apart from his batting, Pant came under scrutiny for his captaincy as LSG lost plenty of matches and could not qualify for the playoffs last season. So this is a crucial season for him.

Ahead of the IPL 2026, Lucknow Super Giants have kept the faith on Pant as captain and it is time for the wicket-keeper batter to perform to avoid any pressure or outside noise. His current fitness is very impressive and he will hope it pays off. Pant has also been working with Indian legend Yuvraj Singh ahead of the IPL and it will be interesting to see how this season goes. Lucknow Super Giants will face Delhi Capitals in their opening IPL game on April 1. The 2026 edition of the IPL will start on 28 March and the schedule for the initial phase is already out.
