Rohit Sharma receives prestigious Padma Shri Award, joins elite list of personalities

Former India captain Rohit Sharma received the prestigious Padma Shri award at a ceremonial function held at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday. The honour was conferred by the President of India in recognition of Rohitโ€™s outstanding contribution to Indian cricket and his achievements on the international stage. He received the award at the second Civil Investiture Ceremony this evening at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi.

Rohit Sharma was dressed in a black suit and wore a bright smile throughout the ceremony. His wife, Ritika was also present during this ceremony. Before accepting the award, Rohit acknowledged Prime Minister Narendra Modi with a bow. With this award, Rohit Sharma enters a highly exclusive club. He becomes one of around 40 Indian cricketers to have ever been conferred with the prestigious Padma Shri award.

Rohit Sharma was among the 65 personalities honoured during the second Civil Investiture Ceremony. Hockey star Savita Punia also received the Padma Shri, while tennis legend Vijay Amritraj was conferred with the Padma Bhushan.
