In lines with an injury concern, it is being said that England’s fast bowler Jamie Overton might be ruled out from the remainder of the current edition of the Indian Premier League. However, if that is indeed the case, then it could be said- and said so with a sense of confidence-that the lanky fast bowler has indeed played his part. Most recently so in his Chennai’s superb win accomplished against the Delhi Capitals and that too, in the latter’s territory at the Arun Jaitley stadium here in New Delhi. Although, he bowled a solitary over, Overton’s impact was clear and evident for all to see.

He came into bowl in the dearth over stages and off the 6 deliveries he bowled, he conceded just 5 runs. But most importantly took the big key wicket of none other than Tristan Stubbs. His 38 were useful runs for Delhi. And now, in the recent game’s aftermath, Overton has issued a wonderful statement that clearly explains the regard he has for his mates in the yellow outfit.

The tall pacer highlighted the cool and collected leadership of his Chennai SuperKings leader, Ruturaj Gaekwad. Now, while that is interesting, what’s also is the fact that both Chennai and Gaekwad are sort of peaking at the right time. Aren’t they? On his part, Jamie Overton has formed a good team with his CSK captain, Ruturaj Gaekwad. The two are often seen in talks between overs or mini conversations between deliveries forging plans as to how to outthink the batters that are competing against Chennai.

And one can also see the sense of assured trust that exists between the two!

Which is why it made absolute sense when the lanky right arm fast medium shared in the aftermath of the game against Delhi that Ruturaj Gaekwad is a relaxed and cool headed captain. In that way, it also, one ought to state, likens the right handed top order batter to two famous lights of the Chennai franchise. One of them, being mS Dhoni, a world class legend and a timeless one at that ans the other, Sanju Samson, who’s the darling of the cricketing media at the moment.

Furthermore, Overton also shared an interesting insight about Gaekwad, the Chennai captain.

He was of the view that his current captain at Chennai has already learnt the tropes of leadership from none other than Mahendra Singh Dhoni and that in so doing, he’s learnt from the best.

And speaking of the best, it has to be said that the crowds are absolutely and truly missing their Mahi and one simply can’t wait to see Dhoni turn up in the golden yellows and turn up the heat as the IPL nears the most exciting stage this season. What do you think?
