Shashank Singh smashed a blistering half-century off just 22 balls to lead a valiant fightback for the Punjab Kings (PBKS) while chasing a massive target of 223 runs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamshala. Shashank completely shifted the game's momentum against leg-spinner Suyash Sharma. Starting the over at a modest 2 runs off 3 balls, he targeted the straight and deep square leg boundaries to launch three consecutive sixes, looting 20 runs from the over. Together with Australian power-hitter Marcus Stoinis (37 off 25), Shashank revived the chase with a furious, boundary-laden partnership, punishing full tosses and dragging PBKS back into the fight.
Punjab Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first, but they were systematically taken apart by Royal Challengers Bengaluru. RCB piled on a massive 222/4 in their 20 overs, driven by a vintage 58 off 37 balls from Virat Kohli and a blistering, unbeaten 73 off 40 balls* by Venkatesh Iyer. Youngsters Suryansh Shedge (35) and Cooper Connolly (37) launched a brief recovery, but when Shedge holed out directly to Virat Kohli off Suyash Sharma's bowling, PBKS was left stranded at 93/5. Despite early wickets rattling the Punjab top order, Shashank's high-octane knock continues to keep the match on a knife-edge in this high-intensity IPL 2026 clash.

RCB dismantles PBKS batting order, dismiss openers for duck
Yash Dayal opened the bowling for RCB, hitting hard lengths immediately. Priyansh Arya looked uncomfortable from ball one, struggling to read the lateral movement. On the third ball of the innings, Dayal bowled an innocuous-looking full delivery outside off stump. Arya attempted a loose, cross-batted drive without foot movement. He failed to keep the ball down, slicing it directly to the fielder positioned at cover to walk back for a 3-ball duck. Spotting the batter charging down the track for a third consecutive delivery, Bhuvneshwar expertly pulled his length back and extracted extra bounce. Prabhsimran Singh went for a wild horizontal-bat swipe, only to get a thick outside edge that flew straight into the hands of the keeper. He departed for 2 runs off 5 balls, leaving PBKS stranded at 16/2.

RCB brought impact sub Rasikh Salam Dar into the attack. Facing just his third delivery, Punjab captain Shreyas Iyer attempted a high-risk, wild slog across the line against a delivery that nipped back in sharply. Iyer completely missed the line, getting his stumps rattled or caught behind to walk back for 1 run off 3 balls. This structural execution by RCB's bowlers dried up early runs and forced Punjab into a defensive rebuild, rendering late-innings heroics from Shashank Singh (54) a statistical mountain too high to climb.
