Indian opener KL Rahul failed for Karnataka in the Final of the 2025/26 Ranji Trophy Final. Jammu and Kashmir were batting first and posted a massive total of 584 and batted just more than 2 days against Karnataka in the Final. It was a mammoth total. Karnataka came into bat on Day 3 and their aim would have been to overtake J&K total and take the first innings lead. KL Rahul opened the batting with Mayank Agarwal and a lot depended on the experienced duo, especially KL Rahul who is the current Indian opener.

Unfortunately, KL Rahul lost his wicket for 13 and had a failure as Karnataka were dealt with a big blow early on. KL Rahul batted for 39 balls for his 13 runs and it was a disappointing performance from the experienced opener. Aquib Nabi Dar picked up his wicket as KL Rahul was dismissed and Karnataka lost their first wicket for 27 and are in all sorts of trouble.

KL Rahul has had a good time for India in the Test circuit over the last few years as he was spectacular in England and Australia. KL Rahul has always stepped up in the pressure situations but he could not do it in the Final as he was dismissed cheaply and could not do well. Aquib Dar was excellent with the new ball as he bowled a five over spell and gave away only eight runs while also picking up the wicket of KL Rahul.

Jammu and Kashmir posted 564 runs while batting first and five of their batters went past the 50 run mark and they also had Shubham who scored a century. This is a massive total and if Jammu and Kashmir manage to bowl out Karnataka below 564 then they will clinch the title based on the first innings lead. J&K have never won a Ranji Trophy title before and this would be a huge achievement if they manage to do so. Karnataka have lost their first wicket but they still have enough fire power so it will be interesting to see how they respond.
