In a recent interview on the JioStar show Superstars, KL Rahul, now playing for Delhi Capitals as of 2026, shared that personal records no longer fuel his happiness. Instead, he is focused on a singular team-oriented goal inspired by the legacy of MS Dhoni. Rahul stated that while individual milestones are "special" because they validate his hard work, they are secondary to team success. He revealed that winning an IPL championship is the only thing that would "truly make [him] happy". Despite recently surpassing Dhoni to become the sixth-highest run-scorer in IPL history, he insisted he doesn't track these statistics.
He stated, "The only milestone I want to catch of MS Dhoni is of winning 5 trophies". To Rahul, the runs are just "reassurance" that his process is right, but they don't provide lasting fulfillment. True happiness, he noted, comes from the dressing room celebration after a final.
"Whatever teams I play for, the goal is to win trophies. That's most important to me. Personal milestones are important. It tells me I've done something right with my life and career.”

KL Rahul on his record at his home stadium
KL Rahul spoke about his record at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium (his home ground) with a mix of authority and local pride. Having recently led the Delhi Capitals to a victory there against RCB, he provided specific insights into why he remains so dominant at the venue. Rahul emphasized that his success in Bengaluru isn't just about form; it’s about a deep, inherited knowledge of the ground's unique dimensions and "pockets".He stated, "Chinnaswamy is my ground. It's my home, I know these conditions better than anyone, and I love playing here".
Rahul explained his tactical advantage: "On a wicket like this, I knew what my pockets were. If I wanted to hit a big six, I knew what pockets to target". He revealed that wicketkeeping at the ground gives him a "feeler" for how the pitch is behaving before he even bats.
