One of the most keenly anticipated moments especially where it comes to the Chennai Super Kings fans was seeing Sanju Samson (who’s newly moved from Rajasthan Royals to Chennai) and the great legend MS Dhoni together on the cricketing turf prior to the start of their campaign opener.
No, it wasn’t about records. Neither was it about big bowls from the bat or the joint celebrations in the wake of competing well or raising the CSK opposition to the dust.
It was a rather special moment with Sanju Samson expected to get his debut cap from none other than Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the icon player and a talent that needs no introduction.
Alas, now it feels that none of that would come to light in the wake of the injury that “Thala” has sustained. An injury that has even confirmed the fact that Dhoni won’t be participating in the initial leg of the tournament for the Chennai Super Kings.

This means that the moment that several of Chennai’s loyal fans would have keenly awaited- to see Dhoni extending with warmth the CSK cap to Sanju Samson is now just the stuff of dreams; not something that will come to fruition.
Which also leaves us wondering, besides the obvious letdown, as to who might actually present the cap to Sanju Samson after all?
Also, when will Dhoni actually return to take the field for CSK. So many questions at the moment, isn’t it?
